Private by configuration / practical by design

Useful school AI.
A boundary you control.

Student-linked work uses private processing. Guard adds education-focused policy and data loss prevention screening, with visible routing and private-lane locks for sensitive context.

A fully private configuration needs no public-model API. That means no per-request public-model API charges in that mode. Hardware, infrastructure and support still carry costs.

Approved public-model connections are optional for appropriate general or de-identified work. The historical figures here describe one deployment, not a required split.

251 recorded completion or saved-output events. June 17, 2026 to October 28, 2026. Source: retained audit-event aggregate from one anonymized school deployment, captured October 28, 2026.

Includes early and support activity. Output events do not measure accuracy, tokens, all model requests or cost. This is a historical snapshot, not a live traffic feed or a guaranteed ratio.

Questions a school should ask.

How do Z7 Guard and Compass fit together?

Z7 Guard is the private AI foundation. Z7 Guard Compass is its exceptional student education (ESE) workflow application, combining student context, school frameworks and reviewed document workflows. The Education lane covers K-12 and ESE; state and local government and higher education belong to SLED.

Can the school run without public AI APIs?

Yes. A private-only configuration uses local or private models without a public-model API dependency or per-request public-model API charges. Infrastructure, power, implementation and support still have costs. Optional approved public connections can be configured for appropriate general or de-identified work.

What does the 93.2% figure measure?

It is 234 private local events out of 251 recorded AI completion or saved-output events in one anonymized school deployment, from June 17 to October 28, 2026. The other 17 were historical public-lane events. The snapshot includes early and support activity. It does not measure accuracy, all model requests, tokens, users or cost, and it is not a current live traffic split or a promised ratio.

Does Compass make IEP or student decisions?

Qualified staff retain responsibility for IEP, eligibility, placement, services, behavior and other student decisions. Generated work is a draft to review against source records. Compass supports professional judgment and does not replace it.

Which school data sources can it use?

Supported imports include roster files, Data Wall workbooks, KTEA-3 reports and NWEA MAP Combined Data Files. Document extraction supports specific text-based formats. The Microsoft 365 Grants connector is a scoped read-only integration; other connections need their own scope and permissions.

Are family messages sent automatically?

Reviewed family PDFs, weekly ZIP bundles and an editable email note support a staff-led handoff. Direct family email is implemented but was not activated in the observed deployment. Any activation needs the school’s approved recipients, sender configuration and review process.

How is deployment scoped?

We confirm school workflows, data sources, staff roles, review responsibilities, private infrastructure and acceptance criteria before proposing a deployment. Available capabilities vary with configuration, permissions and enabled integrations. Privacy screening helps enforce policy; it is not a guarantee of perfect detection or regulatory certification.
